My Tutoring Journey
After completing my school, I started taking tuitions from the first year of college itself. What began as a simple way to spend my time turned into something that became a big part of my life. From my first year of college itself, I continued tutoring regularly, helping school students with their studies. Over time, it became more than just teaching lessons. It became something I genuinely loved doing. Each day I looked forward to those hours of teaching because they made me feel productive, responsible, and happy.
I used to teach many students, most of them coming from both matriculation and CBSE schools. Since I studied biomaths in my higher secondary. I could easily teach subjects like botany, zoology, physics and chemistry with confidence. I always enjoyed explaining science concepts because I had already learned them deeply during my school days. Along with science, I was also quite good at computers. Moreover, I was able to teach a variety of students from different backgrounds, some from commerce, some from biomaths, some from pure science. And I used to prepare lessons in advance, make short notes for my students, and sometimes even create small quizzes to make learning fun. This mix of subjects made my tutoring experience even more interesting and enjoyable.
Through these years of tutoring, I learned that every student is different. Each one has their own pace, interests, and mindset. Some learn fast, while others take a little more time to understand, and that is perfectly okay. I began to adjust my way of explaining according to each student’s need. This experience taught me how important patience and understanding are. It made me realize that teaching is not just about giving answers but helping someone find their own way to understand. Some days were tiring, especially when I had to handle multiple students or explain the same topic again and again. But when I saw their smiles after finally understanding something, all my tiredness disappeared. That happiness was truly special.
Whenever I teach my students, I also end up learning many new things. Teaching always gives me a chance to explore and revise what I already know, and sometimes I learn completely new concepts. From every path, I gain something new in knowledge, patience, and experience. I have also learned how to balance both my studies and my tuition work. Even though it was challenging at times, I managed everything with focus and dedication. My parents always felt really proud of me for handling everything responsibly and making good use of my time. Their appreciation gave me even more confidence to keep doing better in both studies and teaching.
Teaching also helped me discover a new side of myself. My students often asked unexpected questions that made me think deeply. Sometimes they made me laugh with their innocent and funny replies. Those small and sweet moments added so much joy to my day. Every time a student understood a topic and smiled proudly, it felt like a small victory for both of us. These moments made all the effort worthwhile and gave me confidence to keep doing what I love. Over time, I realized that I was not only teaching them but also learning patience, communication, and kindness.
Later, when my department asked us to do an internship, some of my friends chose general internships like HR assistance or similar ones. But I chose to do a teaching internship because I wanted to continue what I truly loved. I wanted to become a teaching intern and gain even more experience in guiding students. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I have made. During this internship, I got to observe how teachers handle classrooms, communicate with students, and plan lessons effectively. It gave me a deeper understanding of how teaching works in a real school environment.
While doing my internship, I learned many valuable things. I worked in the same school where I completed my primary education, and that made me feel really proud. Walking through those familiar corridors and classrooms brought back a lot of memories. I could see my teachers working there, the same ones who once taught me, and they were genuinely proud to see me return as an intern. I taught students multiple subjects and helped them with their lessons just like my teachers once helped me. It felt honoured to stand where my teachers once stood, and it gave me a deep sense of happiness and gratitude. I also built a special bond with the students there, and their curiosity and excitement reminded me of my own school days.
It has now been two and a half years since I started teaching my tuition students. Looking back, I feel proud of how far I have come. Balancing my college work, tuition classes, and household responsibilities on weekends is not always easy, but I have learned to manage everything with time and practice. Teaching has not only given me knowledge but also patience, responsibility, and happiness. It taught me that when you truly enjoy what you do, it never feels like a burden.
Every time I sit with my students, I realize that teaching is not just my work. It is something that keeps me connected to learning, kindness, and growth. It has become a part of who I am. Teaching, to me, is more than sharing knowledge; it is shaping minds and building confidence in others. And as I continue this journey, I know that the lessons I teach today will always remain a part of their lives, just as this experience has become a beautiful part of mine.
