Happiness in Helping
Happiness is often thought of as something we get from achievements, money, or material things. But the truth is, happiness shines the brightest when it comes from helping others. Each time we help, we are not only making someone else’s day better, but we are also filling our own heart with peace.
Helping does not always mean doing something big. It can be as simple as lending a pen to a classmate who forgot theirs, or sharing lunch with a friend who didn’t bring food. I still remember one fine day when I had packed my favorite lunch from home, and one of my friends had forgotten to bring hers. I didn’t even think twice, I just shared mine with her. The happiness I saw on her face while eating was greater than the happiness of keeping the whole lunch for myself. That simple act gave me a kind of joy that lasted the entire day.
Another time, while traveling back home, I saw an elderly woman trying to cross the road. The traffic was heavy, and she looked nervous. I walked over and helped her cross safely. The relief on her face and her words of blessing gave me a joy that no purchased item could ever give.
Another time, just before our CA-1 exam, one of my friends who had been absent for several days asked me for help. She had missed many classes and was worried. I immediately shared my notes with her, explaining the important points. It was a very small gesture from my side, but for her it meant a lot. Her words of gratitude made me feel so satisfied.
At home, helping is even more special. Sometimes when my mother is tired, I help her with small chores like watering the plants or arranging things in the kitchen. She may not always say it out loud, but her relaxed smile tells me everything. In those moments, I feel light and glad. knowing I made her day easier.
So, real happiness is not about how much we have, but about how much we share. By helping whether it is a friend, a stranger, or our own family. we are spreading happiness in small but powerful ways.
