Long Walk to Freedom – Nelson Mandela’s Autobiography
Today, my twin was preparing for her seminar. For the seminar, she had to present the autobiography Long Walk to Freedom, Nelson Mandela’s Autobiography, in our Life Writing class. She had been preparing for nearly a week, spending hours and hours each day to get everything ready. I asked her if I could read some parts of the book. She agreed, and I read a few sections. It turned out to be such a heart-touching and inspiring experience. What impressed me the most was Mandela’s strong belief in equality and justice, even when he had to spend so many years in prison. He never gave up hope and continued to fight for freedom. His courage, patience, and determination made him one of the greatest leaders in history.
While reading, I also thought about how much sacrifice he made for his people. He gave up his personal life, his comfort, and even his freedom so that others could live with dignity. That kind of dedication is rare and truly powerful. Reading this also made me realize that true freedom is not only about living in a free country, but also about having peace, respect, and equal opportunities for everyone. Mandela’s story teaches us that no matter how hard life gets, we should never lose hope or stop working toward our goals.
I felt really inspired after reading it. Even though I only went through a few parts of the autobiography, it left a deep impact on me and made me think about how we can all face challenges in life with more courage and positivity.
