Writing, Learning, and Guiding

This morning, our Department of English conducted an essay writing competition. The topic given was Love, Power, and Morality: The Timeless Concerns of Literature. Students from MA and third-year UG were allowed to take part in this competition. I felt genuinely excited to participate because it was a wonderful opportunity to express my thoughts and  showcase my ideas. The competition was held for two hours, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. I used the two hours to write my essay carefully. I wrote about how love, power, and morality appear repeatedly in literature and how these themes stay meaningful in every period of history. After completing my essay, I felt satisfied because I was able to write everything clearly within the given time. After finishing the competition, I attended my remaining classes. During the last two classes, the professor taught about mythology in literature. I learned how myths are used in stories and how they influence culture and beliefs. The classes were ve...

From Student to Intern: My Teaching Internship Experience

My department instructed all the students to complete an internship as part of our academic requirement. Since we were asked to finish this internship during our semester holidays after the fourth semester, I chose to do my internship in the primary school where I completed my primary education from class one to class five. Returning to the same place as an intern felt very special to me because it brought back many old memories and at the same time gave me a chance to understand how a school functions from a teacher’s side. From the first day itself, I felt proud that I got an opportunity to learn and work in the school that shaped my early years. During these twenty days, I experienced and understood many things about teaching, handling students, preparing lessons, classroom management, and maintaining discipline. As an intern, my role was to observe, learn, assist, support, and try some tasks on my own. This experience helped me see how much responsibility a teacher carries every si...

My Reflections on Paul Kalanithi’s Autobiographical Book When Breath Becomes Air

When my exams got over, my cousins came to our house to spend the holidays with us. All of us sat together and started talking about how we wrote our semester exams. Since we belong to different departments, the conversation became even more interesting. I am from English Literature, one of my cousins is from Physics, and another one is from Botany. So naturally we began discussing our subjects, the chapters we prepared, and the question papers we faced. While talking, my cousins asked me about the subjects I had this semester. I told them about Women’s Narratives, Indian Writing in English, and Life Writing. When I mentioned Life Writing, they immediately wanted to know what exactly we read under that subject. I explained that it included many autobiographies, biographies, memoirs, testimonial writings, personal narratives, and real-life stories written by inspiring people. Then they asked me which book touched me the most. Without thinking twice, I said When Breath Becomes Air by Pau...

From Store Lights to Sweet Bites and Sunset Skies

Image
Today was such a bright and exciting day. In the morning, I went out with my parents to buy some cosmetics. We explored a few stores and picked up some lovely items like nail polish, lipsticks, highlighter, mascara, and a few other beauty products. The shelves were filled with colourful shades and shiny bottles, and choosing each item felt so fun. After finishing all our shopping, we returned home by afternoon, tired but happy. Once we reached home, I decided to make something sweet for everyone. I prepared a cute chocolate brownie with a soft, rich filling inside. The whole kitchen smelled like warm chocolate, and when I finally served it, my parents loved it. Everyone enjoyed the taste so much that they asked for another piece. That small moment made me feel so happy and satisfied. Later in the evening, we stepped outside for some fresh air and witnessed a beautiful sunset. The sky was painted with shades of orange, pink, and gold, and it was a peaceful moment...

Today’s Thoughts on Women’s Narrative

Today, I spent time reading and revising texts for my Women’s Narrative exam. I read so many poems, novels, and speeches, all about women. Some of the works I studied were Anonymous by Mamata Kalia, Still I Rise by Maya Angelou, Women by Tara Patel, and so on. While reading, I realized how much women were always oppressed in the past. They suffered a lot under the patriarchal system, and life was really hard for them. Reading about their struggles, it became clear how much people, especially women, had to endure. They worked hard and faced struggles to gain basic rights, like the right to vote. The sacrifices and pain they went through were all so real and powerful. But now, women are slowly gaining freedom, space, and the chance to live, choose, and express themselves.

Rainy Days and Family Moments

The rainy season has started again, and the soft sound of raindrops on the window fills the air with peace and comfort, while the sweet smell of the wet earth rises gently from the ground, spreading freshness all around, and I just love that petrichor scent at the beginning of the rainy season. Even back then, in my childhood, we used to enjoy these rainy days to the fullest, enjoying rainy evenings that brought families closer and filled our homes with warmth and laughter. Life was simpler then, love felt deeper, and our world wasn’t ruled by mobile phones. Childhood Delights: Moments of Togetherness I can remember those rainy days from my childhood. Our family would sit together in the living room, sipping hot coffee and sharing stories. My parents often told me about their own school days, how they enjoyed the rain, played outside, and spent time with their friends. They would share their childhood memories, their dreams, and the fun moments from their younger days. I would also sha...

A Golden Day

Today was such a colorful and happy day. I went out shopping with my parents, and we visited a jewellery shop that is very famous in our place. The shop was filled with shining collections. The showcases were full of elegant gold necklaces, sparkling earrings, and dazzling bangles arranged beautifully in rows. Every corner of the shop glowed with golden light, and the shelves of colourful bangles caught my eyes. From shimmering silver shades to bright gold ones, every bangle looked stunning and decorative. In that shop, my parents bought me a beautiful gold ring and a pair of gold bangles. I was so happy when my mom gently put the ring on my finger and the bangles on my wrist. They sparkled beautifully under the lights, and I couldn’t stop admiring them. It felt truly special because these were not just ornaments but gifts filled with love and care from my parents. I felt so grateful and touched at that moment. That moment made me realize how much my parents do for me witho...
