My Busmate

Some friendships don’t begin in classrooms, libraries, or college canteens. They sometimes grow in the most unusual places. I feel lucky to have found one such friend during my daily bus rides. From the very first year of college, I had a busmate. We never planned it, but over time, those simple conversations on the bus turned into a bond that feels just as special as any classroom friendship.

We used to bring snacks and share them during the ride. Sometimes we listened to music together, each with one earbud, and we often talked about life, studies, classes we had attended, upcoming exams, and everything that happened in college. For the past four days, we hadn’t met, maybe she took another bus or our timings didn’t match. But today, finally, we met again, and just like before, we shared snacks, listened to songs together, and talked about everything. Those simple moments felt really enjoyable and comforting, just like the usual days we spent traveling together.

Looking back, I never imagined a busmate could turn into such a friendly and reliable companion. It shows that even the most routine parts of life, like daily travel, can give us friendships that stay in our hearts for a long time.
